Sophisticate’s Blog:                 Glamour Makeup Tutorial

Actress Camilla Belle continues to impress us with her flawless beauty! We had to find out just how she stays so gorgeous, so we got the scoop from celebrity makeup artist Kinzee Kubek, the glam guru behind Camilla’s look at the 2013 LACMA Art + Film Gala (shown in this picture!) Here’s what she said…

“Skin, is so important! You always want to start with a clean, blank canvas, that’s well hydrated. Not only does it bring the skin to life, but it also helps maintain the integrity of the makeup.”

“Before I applied any color, I moisturized Camilla’s skin with a light veil of Perricone MD Advanced Face Firming Activator. Then, I applied Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer (in SC-1) to the under eye. With a foundation brush, I built up an even base of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, in the color, 5.75.

“After applying both the concealer and foundation, I went back and gently blended the makeup (with a wet Beautyblender sponge) so that there was a seamless even finish. For eyes, I applied a light layer of Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7 Eyeshadow (in a light color).  A sleek, slightly winged out liquid liner (using Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner) finished the eye.

“To give Camilla a slight definition to her naturally beautiful bone structure, I applied The Sculpting Powder from Kevyn Aucoin Beauty to subtly contour her cheekbones. On the apples of the cheeks, I applied Chanel Powder Blush in 68 Rose Ecrin. For her lip color, I chose a new lipstick from the Fall 2013 NARS Collection—a matte lipstick in the color La Paz.”

“Finishing off with final touches, I applied two layers of Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara, in black. Then on the face, just a few dots of Smashbox Photo Op (applied to the top of her cheekbones) to highlight her where the light catches. Last but not least, the powder I chose was Make Up For Ever HD Powder. (Beauty tip: make sure to thoroughly blend this powder, or it’ll show up on camera!)”

Sophisticate’s Blog:                 Snooki & JWoww

Have you checked out our homepage lately? If not, you’re totally missing out! Here’s one of the fabulous stories we recently posted on favorite Jersey girls….

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley have come a long way from their days on Jersey Shore. The gorgeous girls from the Garden State were known for their partying and, of course, their fabulous manes. With their spin-off show Snooki & JWOWW, the Jersey girls have cut back on the parties but still rock their hot hair. Sophisticate’s chatted with the fabulous reality stars about their sizzling strands and here’s what they dished…

Snooki on her signature pouf style…
“I never knew my hair would be such a big thing. I like to switch my hair up a lot because having the same hairstyle gets boring. I hope everyone knows my hair is real—I don’t wear extensions. My dad will not let me cut my hair!”

JWoww on how she styles her tresses…
“To keep it simple, I wear my hair straight. I have it blown out and then use a hair serum and finishing gloss. I also learned about the Keratin treatment, which helps a lot with frizz.”

Snooki on her fave beauty secret…
“If you want to try a crazy color, get highlights instead of coloring your whole head. With highlights, it’s very easy to change your haircolor if you don’t like it.”

JWoww on her makeup must-haves…
“Bronzer, eyeliner and lipgloss. The eyeliner is dark brown and the lipgloss is shiny, pale pink.”

Sophisticate’s Blog:                 Hair Hues & Eye Color

Depending on the color of your eyes, there’s a hair color that can bring out the best hues and sparkle, and even release colors you never knew existed. When it comes to hair color and its play on eye color, Rex Jimieson, long-time colorist at Chicago’s Maxine Salon, refers to the simple artist color theory. “Every color has a level or value (light or dark) and every color has a tone of hue (warm or cool),” Rex explains. “Hair color that contrasts with the eye color will make the eye more vivid and pop, actually complementing the eyes and drawing you into its features.”

Screen shot 2013-12-10 at 8.19.01 AM

Blue eyes are very versatile and will change with the hair color worn. For the most vivid blue, go for a gold or copper hair color, like Amanda Seyfried (right) and Deborah Ann-Woll.

Green eyes need depth or they will appear hazel or a washed-out shade of blue, so go for brunette or a strong contrasting pop of punk color. Great examples are Katy Perry’s violet and Angelina Jolie’s warm brown.

If your eyes are hazel, they will appear different in every light, so have fun with them, and change up your color often, like Rihanna. Red or black hair can both have outstanding effects on hazel eyes.

Brown eyes are the most versatile eye color, and can often change from golden caramel to dark coffee depending on the lightness or darkness of your hair. The most beautiful hair colors to make brown eyes pop include deep cool brunettes and caramel highlights. Great examples to view this range are studying Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz and Nina Debrov.
