Miley Cyrus is having an excellent grow-out! From super-short shaved sides to a cute pixie snip, the singer has been stepping up her style game. Wella Professionals Celebrity Ambassador Andy LeCompte recently styled Miley for a red-carpet event, giving the star a sleek finish. The mane pro shares how you can create a similar style vibe…

1. Prime damp hair by applying 2-3 pumps of Wella Professionals LuxeOil Reconstructive Elixir to the palms of your hands and distributing evenly throughout hair. Create a deep side part then blow dry hair flat to the head.

2. Add 4-5 pumps of Wella Professionals Pearl Styler Styling Gel to the palms of your hands and distribute evenly throughout the hair then slick hair down using a fine tooth comb.

3. Gently smooth on a shine-enhancing product over the top of locks for extra sheen power, then finish with a light hairspray to prevent flyaways.

Chrissy’s Glam Waves

oscar chrissy

While other stars were slicking back their hair in chic chignons or free-flowing ponytails, Chrissy Teigen was in full-wave glory with her lengths locks flowing freely. The golden cascading waves were created by Macadamia Professional International Creative Director and Celebrity Stylist Giannandrea, who shares how you can get the look at home…

1.       Apply a volumizing product to damp hair and blow-dry large sections with a round brush to amplify volume.

2.       Create a deep side part and wrap small sections around a 1-inch curling iron.

3.       Brush hair downward to slightly relax the waves, spraying each section with Macadamia Control Working Spray.

4.       Using hands, run a quarter-sized amount of Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment through the length of the hair to increase shine.

5.       Brush the hair again and mist the Control Working Spray once more to set your hair.

Chloe’s Sleek Style

87th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Smooth and shiny was the name of the mane style game for Chloe Grace Moretz at the Oscars on Sunday. The look was created by style pro Gregory Russell, who shares the step-by-step…

  • Chloe first prepped her hair by cleansing with Matrix Biolage Cleansing Conditioner for Medium hair.
  • On her damp hair I applied Style Link Volume Builder Mousse to the crown area, and Matrix Biolage Cleansing Conditioner Leave-In Treatment Anti Frizz Lotion for Medium Hair to mid-strand through the ends.
  • I blow-dried her hair with a medium  ceramic brush for body and smoothness.
  • Next, I tucked her hair behind her ears for face framing shape and used a 1.25″ iron to add subtle movement to the ends. I sprayed the ends with Matrix Style Link Texture Builder  for a romantic undone texture.
  • For definition, I used Biolage Agave Nectar Control Gel through the ends and around the face. I then applied Style Link Height Riser powder to the crown for more volume and texture.
  • I finished by untucking the hair from behind her right ear, leaving the left tucked to show off her insane earcuff. I set the finished style with Matrix Style Link Volume Builder Hairspray for hold!

Oscar Trend: Ponytails!

From Dakota Johnson to Jennifer Lopez, ponytails were seen at all the hot Oscar events last night. One you may have missed but we absolutely loved? Leslie Mann’s awesome tail–totally textured and very high volume! The star wore her tress look to the Vanity Fair Oscar party and had us hooked the second she turned her head. Nexxus New York Salon Care Celebrity Stylist Lona Vigi created the look. “Leslie and I decided to add volume and waves to a chic low pony to mimic the ’70s vibe of her outfit,” shares the mane pro. She’s also sharing how you can get the same gorgeous ponytail look…

  1. Start by washing hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.  On wet hair, create a center part and apply Nexxus New York Salon Care EXXTRA GEL Superior Hold Sculpting Gel to define the hair around the face and sides for a sleek look.
  2. Blow-dry the hair off the face and secure hair in a ponytail. Curl the ends with a small barrel curling iron.
  3. Brush out the ponytail and backcomb for fullness.  Finish by spraying with Nexxus New York Salon Care MAXXIMUM Superior Hold Finishing Mist to provide a defined texture and firm hold.

New Giuliana For The Oscars!

new giuliana

While you may think you know what to expect on the red carpet at tonight’s Oscars, here’s one change already from the Golden Globes–Giuliana Rancic changed her haircolor! Herself!

Giuliana went the DIY route and colored her own hair last night using Vidal Sassoon Salonist! Giuliana explained “Honestly at first, I was a bit nervous since I have colored my hair at-home in the past, but color kits would leave me with dull, flat hair color.” Trading in her bleach blonde locks for a rich warm golden brown shade was something she would typically leave to the pros, but Giuliana explained, “while I love my colorist, I’m always on the go and I don’t always have time to get my hair professionally colored.”

Giuliana was originally planning on going for a very light chestnut brown, but was inspired by the hair color of so many Oscar presenters and nominees, and their gorgeous hues. Because of this, she decided to go for a rich medium golden brown with warm undertones. Giuliana said she’s excited to unveil her new look on the red carpet tonight. “I picked an outfit that pairs nicely with the Salonist Medium Gold Brown. It complements my new shade!”

You’re Welcome!

youre welcome

Good genes (and good hair!) run in the Eastwood family. Scott Eastwood (son of Clint) has been named the new face of Davidoff Cool Water fragrance, and will be starring in their campaign this summer.

Born and raised by the sea in California and Hawaii, the actor is a lifelong ocean lover, and a passionate surfer who can nearly always be found outdoors. “The ocean has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m proud to be the face of the fragrance that is synonymous with that lifestyle”, says Scott.

“Scott Eastwood is part of a new generation of man who is outdoorsy, adventurous and cares about the environment but doesn’t take himself too seriously. He truly embodies the spirit of Davidoff Cool Water,” says Steve Mormoris, Coty Chief Marketing Officer Fragrances.

We look forward to seeing more of Scott this summer. Much more.

Whimsical Waves Hair Style!

whimsical waves 1

Actress Natalie Dormer looked fabulous for a red-carpet moment when she stepped out in fairy-tale waves that matched her pretty floral gown. Macadamia Professional’s International Creative Director Giannandrea shares how you can duplicate Natalie’s requested “Bohemian Spring” vibe…

whimsical waves 21) Start with towel-dried hair and apply Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer from roots to end to create hold. To imbue volume, rough blow-dry the whole head upside down until its 85% dry. Use a large round brush on the top section of hair and use a paddle brush for the rest.

2) Create a side part and section the hair in 4 parts, brushing each section gently with a wide comb and spraying with a working spray.

3) Twist each section into a small bun and secure with pins, leaving 2 inches of the ends out. When sections are twisted, use a diffuser to finish drying the hair the rest of the way.

4) Let the hair cool for 10 minutes before taking the twists out. Using your hands, stretch each section of hair down and smooth any kinks with a small flat iron.

5) Run a dollop of Macadamia Professional Whipped Detailing Cream through the whole length of the hair to separate  strands and provide texture. Use product left on your hands to push the parted top section backward and slightly off to the side, twisting the hair back gently to create volume on top, and pinning into place.

Love Your Curls

love your curls

Dove Hair has launched the Love Your Curls campaign, which encourages women to celebrate, love and take pride in their curly hair. Dove Hair commissioned a global study and found that only 10% of women in the US with curly hair feel proud of their hair, and sadly, only four in ten little girls with curly hair think their hair is beautiful.

“At Dove, we recognize that there is a very complex relationship between a woman and her hair,” stated Rob Candelino, VP of Unilever Haircare. “Our Love Your Curls campaign is intended to inspire millions of women to feel confident about embracing their natural curls. If women show the world just how much they love their hair, they will positively impact the next generation to do the same.” In fact, Dove Hair found that little girls are more likely to love their curls if people around them do.

Dove Hair has launched the Love Your Curls campaign in tandem with its new range of nourishing products for curly hair, Dove Quench Absolute.

Here’s to curly girls and women everywhere—you’re beautiful!

Miss Universe’s Crowning Hairstyle!

The 63rd Annual MISS UNIVERSE Pageant

You’ve most likely seen Miss Universe 2015 Paulina Vega and her crowning glory, her gorgeous chestnut mane. CHI was the official haircare sponsor for the pageant, and helped style all 88 contestants, including Paulina. Tammy Mixon, Farouk Systems Global Board Artist and lead Hair Artist for Miss Universe, shares the step-by-step tips for how to re-create Paulina’s tress look (styled by CHI Hairstylist Julian Macias) when the crown was placed upon it.

  1. Begin by spritzing the hair with Miss Universe Style Illuminate’s Set the Stage Blow Dry Spray for intense heat protection from damage and breakage while eliminating frizz and resisting humidity. The lightweight formulation detangles, smoothes, and softens, while dramatically decreasing blow-dry time.
  2. Comb through to evenly distribute and blow-dry hair with your hands to remove the bulk of moisture, lifting hair at the base to provide ample volume.
  3. When hair is still slightly damp, section the hair into 4 parts (top, sides, back and nape).
  4. Starting at the nape area with a large round ceramic brush, finish blow-drying by again lifting the hair at the root area. Continue to dry the rest of the section by smoothing and rounding the ends under. Continue throughout the entire head.
  5. Next, take a medium round CHI Ceramic Brush and wrap larger sections throughout the head, twirling them around the brush. Give each section a blast of hot air followed by cool air to set in the curl.
  6. When releasing each section, continue to twist as you remove the brush. By unwrapping the twirl, this helps to create those soft sultry waves.
  7. For added curl definition and volume, a1 ¼” curling iron was used to bump the ends under and add several more defined curls. The base was sprayed with Restage Dry Shampoo for added lift and texture.
  8. To finish, spray with Rock Your Crown Firm Hair Spray for the perfect hold.

2. Blow dry large sections with a large round brush to increase volume all over, especially on the top layers. Part hair down the middle.

3. Starting slightly below the crown, wrap small sections around a ¾-inch curling iron.
