3 Fun Nail Looks

Nail artist Miss Pop for China Glaze created nails designs that perfectly captured the spirit of the Betty and Veronica by Rachel Antonoff collaboration between the designer and Archie Comics. “Rachel Antonoff’s collaboration with classic comic book characters Betty and Veronica is full of playful, graphic prints. We wanted to bring those flirty exclamations and fluttering hearts to the nails,” said Miss Pop.

GET THE LOOKS!

1.  Paint two coats of China Glaze White On White.
2.  Using a striper brush dipped in China Glaze Hot Flash, make short strokes to create a sketchy heart shape. The wonkier the better. Paint a couple red hearts per nail.
3.  Repeat Step 2 with China Glaze Something Sweet.
4.  Seal your hearts with China Glaze Gotta Go Top Coat.
5.  Be patient and let your nails completely dry. Then, using a fine point sharpie permanent marker, outline the hearts.

2.  Pick the perfect China Glaze pastel shades Sweet Hook, Pink or SwimRe-Fresh Mint or Don’t Be Shallow.
3.  Using the brush in the bottle, get a good bead of polish on the tip. Drop it down about 1/4 of the way up the nail from the cuticle, and to the left.
4.  Repeat Step 3 to the right of the nail to reveal the heart.
5.  Allow a few minutes for your polish to set, then seal with China Glaze Gotta Go Top Coat.

fun-nail-looksComic Chit Chat
1.
Paint nails a mix of China Glaze White on White and Pink or Swim. Mix it up–just be sure to paint two coats and allow a few minutes for your coats to dry.
2.  On the pink nails, use a striping brush dipped in China Glaze Liquid Leather to create a rectangle up the center of the nail from the cuticle. It should end about 2/3 of the way up the nail. For extra comic flair paint a diagonal line on each side of the rectangle to make it look like a triangle without a point.
3.  Pour a little black polish out on a palette or piece of tinfoil. Dip a big ball dotter into the polish and dab it on the nail close to the rectangle to create an exclamation mark.
fun-nail-looks4.  On the white nails, use the bottle brush in Liquid Leather and swipe in an arc to the left and then back to the right. This should create a large white half moon at the bottom of the nail. Fill in the rest of the nail with black polish; don’t worry about perfecting the shape.
5.  Using China Glaze Stripe Rite in Best in Snow, add a little angled triangle to form the speech bubble.
6.  If needed, touch up your speech bubble with a striping brush dipped in Liquid Leather.
7.  Allow a few minutes for your polish to set. Then, seal your look with China Glaze Gotta Go Top Coat.

4 Steps To Aly’s Glam Look

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 12: Aly Raisman attends Sherri Hill fashion show at Gotham Hall on September 12, 2016 in New York City. (Photo by Steve Zak/Getty Images for Sherri Hill)

Matrix Celebrity hairstylist George Papanikolas styled Olympian Aly Raisman for the Sherri Hill runway show during New York Fashion Week. “We wanted to create a classic Hollywood look, as we thought it would complement her dress and her gorgeous long locks nicely,” shared Papanikolas. Here’s the how-to…

1.  On damp hair, apply a volume-building mousse, then rough-dry hair with a blow-dryer, tousling with fingers.

2.  Once completely dry, use a 1-inch curling iron to curl hair away from the face. Let curls cool and run fingers through to break ringlets up into loose, soft waves.

3.  Create a deep side part and spray Matrix Style Link Play Back Dry Shampoo on roots for extra volume.

4.  Pin the smaller side back with a bobby pin, and set the look with hairspray.

5 Steps to Modern ‘70s Hair

mod-70s

Designer Michelle Helene is known for self-expression and sophistication with time-forgotten techniques and bespoke construction. Her Spring/Summer 2017 collection was no different and featured ‘70s-inspired hair looks created by runway Stylist Jorge Luis for L’anza Healing Haircare. The renowned stylist created brilliant hair looks with eye-catching blends of contrasting global textures, forms and lines. “The vibe was organic and absolutely ‘70s music, inspired by a modern twist,” said Luis.

To create fine-curled texture in front, Luis used his own technique: a combo of chopsticks and a flat iron. In the back, hair was smoothed, crisscrossed and braided. Braids were then deconstructed for a flowing, organic look.

mod-70sHow The Look Is Created:

1.  Brush top hair forward and front with a Mason Pearson brush to smooth, then spray with L’anza Healing Style Dry Texture Spray.

mod-70s2.  Working with small sections, wrap hair tightly around a chopstick, place in between flat iron plates for a minute. Shift iron position as needed to apply heat to all wrapped hair. Release, then spray curls with hairspray for hold.

mod-70s3.  Sleek back hair and apply L’anza Keratin Healing Oil Hair Treatment for smoothness and shine.

4.  Crisscross hair to opposite sides, then create braids. Pull on edges of braids so the finished look is unstructured.

mod-70s5.  Spray curls with texture spray and gently pull apart to deconstruct for an undulating, hand-crafted look.

CND created three graphic nail designs for the Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Spring/Summer 2017 presentation. Inspired by 18th century tarot cards and mystic gardens, the clothing and nails embodied the power of positivity and the beauty of nature. Shares CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold, “Stacey Bendet’s inspiration this season fell right in line with our Summer 2017 trend story, which is rooted in nature with a sultry blend of color and design.”

The CND Design Lab Team used CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish shades from the upcoming Summer  2017 collection to hand-paint the refined garden-inspired designs. One group of models wore a fresh take on the French manicure, with a crescent swoop of dusty rose down one side of the nail and a single palm leaf down the other. Another group donned a neutral nail with intricate leafing around the perimeter. Finally, CND showcased a slightly tinted base layer, embellished with cascading clear crystals on three select models for an ethereal touch of shine.

“The CND Design Lab Team is renowned for our avant-garde 3D nail designs, so we love the challenge of harnessing that creativity and translating it into precise, wearable art,” says CND Education Manager Roxanne Valinoti. “These nails are flirty yet refined, perfect for a beach getaway or a summer soiree.”

3 Steps To Emily’s Bob

emily-blunt

Emily Blunt’s gorgeous golden hue was styled without a fault at Michael Kors Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week. The actress’s fresh bob was styled by celebrity hairstylist and inventor of the Beachwaver Sarah Potempa in a flawless carefree finish that was camera-ready. Recreate Emily’s effortlessly chic ‘do in a few simple steps!

ONE: Create a natural middle part and loosely blow-dry hair with a styling brush.

TWO: Using hair clips, section the hair starting at the bottom and working your way up. Curl the hair into waves, leaving two inches out to create a soft, natural look. (Potempa used the Beachwaver S.75.)

THREE: Smooth over the ends with a flat iron and add pomade for a subtle texture on the ends.

7 Steps To A Chic Bun

chic-bun

chic-bunFor the Urban Zen Fall/Winter 2016 The Alchemist Collection, stylist Jorge Luis, for L’anza Healing Haircare, created loosely pinned topknots with strands casually escaping down the back of the neck.

“My inspiration was the nomadic spirit of the desert, with hair that looks naturally healthy and beautiful but with a unique kind of raw, simple texture that has each strand flowing randomly,” says Luis. “In fact, the style evolved from the idea of this organic, windblown hair, and that raw texture was the focal point of the look.”

chic-bunHere’s the how-to…

>>1  Mix a good-sized amount of L’anza Keratin Healing Oil Dry Texture Spray with a small amount of hair oil in palms, and apply to almost-dry hair to create texture, hold and keep it soft.

>>2  Work deep under hair and at roots, starting at the back, massaging in with tip of fingers.

>>3  Rough-dry product into hair using blow-dryer aimed in random directions to set the product in (repeat the process for fine-textured hair).

>>4  Randomly draw up the hair and create a ponytail at the crown. Take medium sections, tease the hair and spray teased sections with the dry texture spray used before.

chic-bun>>5  Create a loose bun, making sure to let the hair flow naturally and allowing loose strands to escape back down the neck.

>>6  Tweak and pinch surface of hair with fingers around the front, then more lightly on rest of hair. This gives hold with an interesting “raw” texture with a healthy shine.

>>7  Finish the look with a diffuse misting of L’anza Color Illuminator Hair Brightening Spray to intensify and refresh hair color and to brighten the hair under the lights.

Buy Shoes To Help

buy-shoes-help

As if you needed another reason to buy a cute pair of shoes, here’s one more… QVC is holding their annual “FFANY Shoes on Sale” broadcast on Thursday, October 20, from 6 to 9 pm ET. During the sale, shoe lovers will be treated to a selection of over 170 donated styles of shoes from more than 80 brands, offered at half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. And the best part? A minimum of 80 percent of the purchase price will go to benefitting various breast cancer research and education institutions (the show has generated more than $50 million to date for the cause!)

And, to sweeten the deal even more, this year’s celebrity helper is none other than Zendaya, who is appearing in both print and television ads to help support the charitable shoe sale. “Like most women, I love a great pair of shoes, and I especially love scoring a great deal,” shares the star. “Being a part of QVC Presents ‘FFANY Shoes on Sale’ allows me to share my passion for shoes with my fans while also demonstrating how fun it can be to contribute to such a worthwhile cause.”

Tune in, buy shoes, and help support a great cause.

7 Steps To Jennifer’s Waves

Can Jennifer Garner ever make a wrong beauty move? The Alias alum looked flawless once again at the Toronto International Film Festival, donning effortless waves styled by Giannandrea, Macadamia Professional’s International Creative Director. Cop the hairdresser’s styling secrets for your own fabulous mane!

1.  Prep wet hair for blow-drying by applying a palm-sized amount of Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer to the crown to add body. Use a smoothing heat protectant to smooth strands and prevent heat damage.

2.  Blow-dry large sections with a 2” round brush to create volume. Section off three mid-sized sections at the crown and wrap with Velco rollers. Let the rollers cool off for 15 minutes.

3.  While the rollers are cooling, wrap a 1.25” curling iron around the remaining hair to create waves on all sides. Keep the ends straight.

4.  Take the rollers out and gently tease the top of the crown. Create a middle part.

5.  To add extra definition to curls, gently clamp a straightener on each curve of the hair. Hold for a few seconds, then move to the next bend you’d like to make look perfectly undone.

6.  When you’re done straightening, gently brush the hair while being careful to keep the volume. Smooth the front pieces to frame the face.

7.  To finish, spray dry oil mist to add shine without weighing the hair down, and spritz with hairspray for a light hold with natural movement.
