Volume-boosting mousse adds structure and form to any style.

Welcome To Fall!

While we’ll miss the heat a little bit, we’re totally excited for all the new beauty fall brings. Like this gorgeous makeup look on Kristen Stewart. Long lashes and matte, pale-pink lips combine beautifully with a white sweater. (Not to mention that glimpse of blonde and brunette working together in a short crop…).

If this is what cooler breezes mean, we say Bring. It. On.

Never skip conditioning! Hair can always use more moisture.

The iconic pixie shape was originally made famous by London fashion model Twiggy in the late 60s, and since then, some version has been on trend. So, what’s the current evolution of this famous cropped haircut? With the comeback of the shag, crowns are getting shorter and perimeters have softer lengths, as shown by this look by the Sam Villa Hair Team. We love!

Ponytails can be a simple yet strong and edgy style statement, too!

Color Pop

This coif color combination is right on trend! Walnut strands are snipped into a voluminous bob that’s subtly asymmetrical. Locks are spun into flirty curls that show off the hints of deep teal and light blush pink throughout. Hair by Tianna Wyant of JCPenney Salon in Clarion, PA.

Depending on the density of your hair, getting a deep moisturizing treatment should be a part of your hair regime.

The more hair products you use, the more often you need to cleanse your coif.

Pop! Goes The Color

Looking for a way to add color to your mane, but not sure you’re ready to do the whole thing? Model and beauty entrepreneur Miranda Kerr shows you a pretty alternative! A thin slice of hair on each side of a precise center part is colored a honey-blonde hue, in bold contrast to dark-brunette lengths. It’s just the right pop of color to satisfy those shade cravings!

One Great Look—Dark & Decadent

Hair by Morgan Mislitski
Wilkes Barre, PA

Go for a deep and dark hue this season! Ebony tresses fall slight past the shoulders in loose curls. The opaque shade is absolutely stunning and will make you full glam and sassy.

Emmy Duos!

Last night’s Emmy Awards brought the stars out in full force on the red carpet, and we loved every minute of it. We especially loved it when they joined forces to show off their fab style. Here are our favorite duos from last night…

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

Milo Ventimiglia and Lonnie Chavis

Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson

Emilia Clarke and Millie Bobby Brown

The Gilmore Girls brought us fast-talking, heart-searing moments and the fabulous manes of Alexis Bledel as Rory and Lauren Graham as Lorelai. And tonight? Alexis Bledel is up for an Emmy for Supporting Actress for her work in The Handmaid’s Tale. We’ll be tuning in to see all the red-carpet beauty and the fabulous actresses who are kicking butt on TV. Congrats to all!

A bob (smooth or curly or wavy) is perfect for women of all ages.

Sometimes we receive such beautiful haircut imagery here at Sophisticate’s Hairstyle Guide we have to share, share, share! Such is this one from Contreras Academy that has a smooth, sleek crown cut above the ear for high-fashion appeal. The blonde highlights bring about the accent over richer-hued lowlights.

Going with a red-hot hair hue? This shade fades fastest so be sure to use color-deposit shampoo.

Curls, Curls, Curls

Natural curly girls know that sometimes, a few of those wayward spirals need a little taming. Rose Bertram gets glam in the stylists chair with her pretty ringlets–and a curling iron to make everything picture perfect. It only takes a few twists and you’re there…

You should always use a heat protectant product before heat styling.

Emma Deconstructed

For a red-carpet appearance, Emma Stone went sparkly with her makeup and un-constructed with her hair. Shared hairstylist Mara Roszak of the look, “Sparkle lady in Venice. I pinned her hair up and under, creating a deconstructed ‘bob’ feeling, very 30’s boudoir.” Gorgeous!

Check the heat setting on your styling tools to be sure it’s not too hot.

Cute Kut

While her daughters are always setting trends in the mane world, you have to give it to Mama Kris Jenner for always looking fab in her trademark short cut. The star’s layered locks are styled up by mane pro Lea Journo, and involve lots of piecey sections tousled and textured to perfection. It’s a short cut worth kopying for sure…

A boar bristle brush helps stimulate the scalp to bring out your natural scalp oils and enhance shine.

Admit it! We all want to look a little special during those ‘important’ nights. Right? And what better way than to sweep it all up and allow some face-framing tendrils to cascade down for movement? Jessi wears this intertwined curly look in an upstyle that works perfectly.

Rosa Pickett created the design and used…working spray, a 1.25 curling iron, hair pins, root-lifter spray, round brush, pomade, shine spray and finishing spray.

All done for Fantastic Sams in Apple Valley, CA. Photos by Taggart Winterhalter for Purely Visual.

Make sure to make time for trims. Your hair will thank you for it!

Our new issue of Sophisticate’s Hairstyle Guide features our special annual feature section, HAIR TRENDS! Two industry rockstars—Dilek Onur-Taylor (right) and Michelle O’Connor (far right)—who happen to be Creative Directors for The Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney, provided us with gorgeous work and info on what will be hot in the new year. “We will see a lot of individualism in 2019, and having the option to wear your hair in several different ways,” the pros explained. Here are three individual looks designed by the artists.

1.   Long waves emerge from off-center part. Stunning blonde color brings it all home perfectly!

2.  Rich red and chocolate brown combine into a scrumtuous melange of hues. Lots of volume at sides and crown bun…bring out your inner artist.

3.  Light coral/prink hues blend into a soft blonde. Hair pulled into a top twist for pure drama!

Have a favorite? We can’t decide! For more trend info; please pickup our new issue…we know you’ll love!
