That’s a very common request we get from our clients. Most want something that won’t weigh down the hair and leave it flat or lifeless but give definition and protection to your curly hair. We’d recommend Essence Absolue from Shu Uemura. For finer hair use 4 – 6 pumps of the spray version. Or a dime-size amount of the creme for thicker locks. Apply to towel dried hair and blowdry/style with a diffuser to maintain your beautiful curls.

  2. Brianna says:

    Hello, (:
So I have naturally wavy/pretty curly hair, and I have some shorter layers cut in (about cheekbone length or a little longer). My hair is also pretty long, about an inch above my belly button. C: Lately I’ve been trying to not use as much heat on it to keep it healthy, especially because it’s summer soon. I was wondering how to bring out my natural curls more without making them frizzy. (: I can usually make the top sections pretty curly but they don’t match the wavy sections below. :P Thank you so much for all of your help!! P.S. I love your magazine c: xx <3

Rollers are kind of style, but I never used them. So I wanna try them out someday.

I love your magazine and all the tips and tricks you provide, not to mention the contests and things. :) I was wondering something about my hair. It’s pretty long, about an inch above my belly button. I have naturally curly hair, so I got some shorter layers cut in to help with volume. However, whenever I curl my hair, whether its the traditional way or wrapping it around the barrel, it looks awesome for about 2 hours, then the bottom layers all go straight and the curls fall out. :( I have a few good hairsprays that I use, but it still doesnt help me. :( Can you help me make my curls on the bottom layer last?? :) Thank you! It’s much appreciated. :)

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Daniel Keane says:

Congratulations on your wonderfully long hair!  With hair as long as yours there is a lot of weight involved and this can adversely effect the durability of the curls.  When I am curling hair that has any substantial length I make certain to pre-section the hair with clips and then use a texture spray like Italy Hairfashions Pure Texture Spray on each section before I curl it and then use something like  Purity Design spray on each section after curling it.  Once I spray it I put it up with a curl clip to cool for a few minutes while I finish all the rest of the curls.  When you have curled all the hair, release the curls from the clips  and shake them out and they should last much longer.

    • Bonnie L. Krueger, Editor-in-Chief says:

Probably the best solution is to do a tighter curl (smaller) curlers…so they can drop beautifully!
