The holiday weekend has come to an end and if you’re anything like us, your strands took a sand, sun and salt water beating, leaving you with a total hair hangover. Dry, frizzy ends? Limp locks? Itchy Scalp? We feel your pain! Luckily, expert stylist Mario Russo of Salon Mario Russo shared some healthy hair tips that will help get your mane back on track—fast!

Dull And Dry
The best way to cure this common beauty problem is simple – get a trim. Ask your stylist to spruce up your locks by taking only a small amount off the ends. If your hair is still feeling dry, try applying a hair mask to wet strands. For best results, leave it on for 30 minutes with a shower cap to create extra heat and open up the hair cuticle. TRY: Oribe Beautiful Color Masque.

Limp And Lackluster
The easy fix is to use a clarifying shampoo once a week. Flat hair can be caused by a build-up of salt water and chlorine from summer fun as well as products that combat frizziness. After using the clarifying shampoo, give hair a breather on products – less is more when you’re working to get volume back! TRY: Bumble&Bumble Sunday Shampoo – it does a great job removing impurities.

Ditch The Itch
An itchy scalp is another common side effect from a long weekend spent in the sun. Your scalp can easily dry out from the chlorine, frizz products and salt water. One weekly at-home treatment:

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Olive Oil
  • 3 drops of Vitamin E Oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Water

Apply on dry hair and let it sit for 20 minutes. Wash and condition hair as normal. This will soothe a dry scalp and add extra moisture to the skin.
