Sophisticate’s Blog:         Tabatha’s Salon Takeover

Tabatha's Salon TakeoverLook out, struggling salons…stylist to the stars Tabatha Coffey is here to save the day! With her years of expertise, can-do attitude and brutally honest approach, we love watching Tabatha get the job done on her must-watch Bravo show. Here, Sophisticate’s chats with the mane guru about her hit show and much more…

What is the one styling tool every woman should own?
A great blow-dryer because everyone, at some point, will blow-dry their hair. A high quality one won’t damage your hair and it’ll be comfortable in your hand. It’ll get the job done quickly. It’s a really important tool for every woman to have in her bathroom.

What are the things a woman should consider when choosing a hairstylist?
Go on recommendation—if there’s someone who you think consistently looks great, then ask that person who does their hair. In I think that you should ask that person who does their hair.  Also, in my salon, I always like people to come in and get a consultation because it’s a great way for a new client to get the feel of the salon. They’ll see how they’re treated, how their hairdresser will listen to them and then they can see if they feel comfortable to actually make an appointment.

How do you prepare yourself for a takeover?
Any business I’m walking into to take over, I have very fresh eyes for that business. I’m focused on watching the problems the business has and talk to the individuals and really finding out what is going wrong to get them back on track. It’s all about the individuals in that business—you can’t have any pre-conceived notions.
