A career woman like you needs to show off her best asset…gorgeous hair! Lush lengths are styled to perfection with the help of a barrel curling iron, used to style loose waves in varying directions. A side part helps create a faux fringe, and a gorgeously golden mane shade brings the entire look together.

Combining smooth strands with shapely spirals creates a free-flowing profile with tons of texture. A ravishing red hue beautifully complements a creamy complexion and showcases natural highlights that shine, thanks to a bumped-up crown that gives way to beachy curls.

  1. Monica says:

Hi guys! I love, love, love your mag! I’m growing my hair out right now, and it’s about an inch or two past my collar bone. But how long does hair have to be to be considered long?

    • Bonnie L. Krueger, Editor-in-Chief says:

      Thanks Monica!

We think you’re long already Monica…and thanks for the nice compliment–we’re blushing!

  2. Denise says:

I’ve nearly always had long hair. I an enjoying some layers now that let my natural curl add body. I always have trouble with bangs, though, because I wear glasses and models never do. How long do I go? On the forhead or sideswept? What works with glasses, and what should I absolutly avoid?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Daniel Keane says:

I like all of the options for bangs that we are seeing today.  As for the glasses, you want to keep the bangs above them or they may seperate and become troublesome.  However, If you are just testing the waters of bangs I would keep them a bit longer and sweep them to the side.

  3. Alicia Burns says:

Long hair everywhere I looked up. So I,ve been wearing my hair short for about 23 years and right now I,m letting it grow out of here. I wanna go down past to my shoulders for a few years.

  4. Christine Haberlin says:

im growing out my hair and using products t make it grow faster ( GROW shampoo is amazing) and i have black hair coler and honey tone skin i was thinking of doing a choppy cut what do you think

    • Bonnie L. Krueger, Editor-in-Chief says:

      Hi Christine:

Choppy cuts add some nice volume to hair and are a quick lift. Check your salon pro to see if right for you (bring a copy of our latest issue with a few looks you love!) and get their opinion.

      Good luck!

  5. Brandi says:

Yes I finally wear my long hair again after about 7 years of having short hair. As a child up until I was about 24 my hair was long, like past by bra strap. I wanted something different and got it cut a little above my bra and slowy it got shorter! So short I had that little cut where the back was about an inch long and flipped out like a ducks tail, cute but not for someone who’s in a hurry. I thought short hair would be easier, I was WRONG I grew that out then cut it again into a bob, loved it! BUT I REALLY LOVE MY LONG WAVY YET NOT CURLY Q HAIR! Having long hair, tthere’s so many different ways I can style my hair. Up, down, bun, fishtail braid, traight, curly, and being a busy stay at home Mom of 2 busy body boys and wife, if I need to run out fast, its a headband and a poufy (at crown) ponytail. I LOVE MY LONG HAIR AND PLAN ON KEEPING IT! {just wish it would stop shedding and/or falling out so bad :-)

  6. pamela sprouse says:

How can I get a copy of an older issue its the nov/december issue 2009 with taylor swift on it. There is a hair style in there I had my hair done like an can’t get any one to cut it that way now need that issue please.

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

Hi Pamela! We’re so sorry, but once an issue of Sophisticate’s Hairstyle Guide leaves the newsstand, it’s gone for good–back issues are not available. But do stay tuned to future issues, because Taylor Swift is one of our favorites and we’ll definitely be featuring her again.

  7. India says:

So I have meduim length hair, It’s wavy, and I like a lot of scene and rock hairstyles. School is coming what should I do!?!?!?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

Hi India! Never be afraid to experiment! Find photos of hairstyles you like in Sophisticate’s Hairstyle Guide, then grab a friend and try on a few for size. Even if you don’t duplicate a look exactly, you might find a fabulous new style in the process!

    • Monica says:

      I have the same length

  8. varina says:

hi well i have short hair but i love long hair is there any suplies that will make it grow

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

Hey, Varina! We love that you’ve been checking out our whole website! Patience is about the only thing we can recommend for growing your hair it. It takes time! Meanwhile, have fun with your hair at each new length as you go through the grow-out process. You may discover a length you like along the way!

  9. Elizabeth says:

Hi! I’m growing my hair out from just shoulder-length to mid back. What are some good tips and vitamins to keep my hair healthy and help it grow faster? I really love long hair and my hair was down to my derriere when I was eleven. I use sulfate-free shampoo and let my hair dry naturally most of the time. Thanks for any tips!

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

Hello there, Elizabeth! It sounds like you are already on the right track. The only proven thing we can tell you to help your hair grow is to keep it healthy with regular trims (yes, even when your’e trying to grow it out) and conditioning, and keeping heat-styling to a minimum.

  10. Kylie says:

Now i wash my hair for about twice a week….but still nothing has changed. I’m not satisfyed.

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

HI Kylie! I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you further since we can’t be there to see your hair in person. However, your hairstylist can! Head to the salon and let your stylist know what kind of tress situation you’re in and ask for her help. If she doesn’t have any suggestions, perhaps see if there’s someone else who works in the salon who is more of an expert with your hair type–every stylist has a specialty! Good luck!
