A too-dark mane shade is given new life thanks to the creative color genius of Bryan Beaver of A Tony Anders Concept in Columbus, OH. Soft strands are snipped into heavy layers, transforming the shape of the silhouette and adding lots of depth and movement. Electric red highlights add a pop of color to keep all eyes on you! A dull tress hue and a shapeless silhouette is transformed into one bangin’ profile by Amy Margeson of Paul Kenneth Salon in Woburn, MA. An all-over cherry-cola haircolor shines with subtle tones of red cinnamon radiating throughout the lush fringe. Bangs are bumped under with the help of a flat iron, which also flips piecey layers for a textured finish. Photo by Global Hair & Fashion Group.

Lackluster lengths get a modern makeover from Wendy Simmons of L Salon & Color Group in San Mateo, CA. A blasé haircolor becomes shiny and vibrant with an illuminating color transformation resulting in a golden hue with glossy platinum highlights. Hair is shortened into asymmetric layers and blow-dried with a round brush to create a curved shape. A few flips of the flat iron help to create an ultra-smooth silhouette. An out-dated mane shade is begging for a switch, making this the perfect time for Jennifer Wolf, of L Salon & Color Group in San Mateo, CA, to craft a brand-new hue! A gorgeous ginger haircolor looks amazing against a fair skin tone and the style is worthy of the runway. Crown layers are flat-ironed to show pointed edges and a dab of pomade helps to create a radiant rocker-chick style. Photo by Global Hair & Fashion Group.

wendy simmon’s hair looks beautiful:)
I would love the Marilyn Monroe look to die for. And make that bleachy blonde if you would please me? Thanks so much.
I would love a messy short cut. I have fine hair and no one can do a cut I want
Hi Deborah:
Check with any friends who have a look you like. If you see someone in a store that has that cut, don’t be afraid to ask! Also–some salon Web sites feature style collections and advise who created them.
Good luck!
I would go red fort a day I have tried blond and have been told I look best as a brunette. I would also like a streak of bright blue in it!
Go for it Deborah!
I have dark brown hair and wanted to put a single streak of color in it and was wondering what color would be the best for brown hair and to accent so to speak?
You’re a lucky girl, Kelsey! Brown hair looks great with so many colors! If you want something more natural looking, try a lighter or darker shade of brunette. For something natural but bold, maybe a streak of bold blonde is the ticket. And for something just plain bold, pink, purple and green are always hip and look great against brunette locks.
I would have the old Farah Fawcett look. Long and layered. And I would be a natural bleached blonde.
Such a classic style, Debra. Love it!
I would love a makeover!! I feel like I’ve done the same hairstyle for the last 6 years just slight varriations to it. I need something new. I’m tired of side bangs and razored layers.
Hi Alyssa,
Check out each issue of Sophisticate’s for mane inspiration. Then, take the magazine to your hairstylist and show the tress pro some looks you like. Having a picture helps your hairstylist see exactly what you want. Here’s to a stylish 2012!
I would love a makeover!! I am really pale, with blue eyes and dirty blond hair with red high lights. Also I have straight long hair and it is about median thickness. I have really frizzy hair and I hate it!!! I would like something that highlights my eyes and high cheep bones but I don`t have bangs. My bangs are as long as the rest of my hair. I really need your help and advise!! I love to try new things and stand out! I am a teen so I don`t really know much, don’t have a lot of money, and I need to be able to pull my hair back into a pony tail. I have never died or highlighted my hair before either. I love your magazine and I`m ready for a makeover!!
Hi, Dana!
If you can’t get to the salon for a new cut or color, there are plenty of ways to give yourself a mane makeover! We think you’ll love the “At Home Styling Guide” featured in every issue of Sophisticate’s. The entire section is devoted to showing you how to style your hair at home! On the bangs, try doing a side part and swoop your hair across your forehead, creating a faux fringe, and secure your hair with a bobby pin just above the ear. You’ll have the illusion of bangs without actually cutting your hair!
I want a hair makeover!!!!! I have had the same hairstyle for 15 yrs.
Straight, long, bangs are alittle past my chin. I want something different. But I would like to keep my hair a little long, You know just enough to put it in a ponytail. Cause Im a stay at home mom/soccer mom. And I dont have a regular salon. Help Help. Any info would be great.
Hi, Amanda!
We answered your question over in the Great Bangs section…check it out!
