Keep your fiery red mane in check with fabulous tips from Suzie Bond of Perfect 5th Salon in Mooresville, NC, and Tania Fredericks of Chumba Concept Salons in Melbourne, Australia.

  • Shade Selection “A bright color needs to ‘go’ with the rest of your hair,” says Bond. “Brown hair and cool blonde hair look great with cool colors like purple, blue, red and pink. Warm blonde shades look good with yellow, gold and orange.”
  • DIY If you’re determined to DIY when it comes to your color, Bond and Fredericks have a few tips. “All of the DIY colors work similarly,” says Bond. “They stain the hair. Because the color can only stain the hair, it’s important to know that the darker your natural haircolor is, the less vibrant the artificial color will be. Fredericks adds that, depending on the color of your hair, you may need to star with bleach. “For a blonde or a very light red head, it’s usually as simple as applying the desired color,” says Fredericks. “However, for a brunette or darker red head, it’s necessary to first pre-lighten sections using bleach. Once light enough, the bleach is rinsed off, the hair is dried and the vibrant color is applied.”
  • Mane Maintenance Bond recommends using a color-safe shampoo, and she also suggests not shampooing everyday. “Water is the enemy!” she says. “Also, try to stay away from high-heat tools like a flat iron.”

Madelaine Petsch has a gorgeous red mane that she was born with–and is perfect for her character as Cheryl Blosson on Riverdale.

A rich red hue starts lighter at the roots, growing deeper down the very long length. It’s a subtle fire, but one that still brings all the style heat!

Yes, I’ve gone red many times in my life! And, I love being a redhead! The color is so rich and vibrant. My hair color is dark brown right now, and I’m planning on going back to red very soon. Like, next week! I think this time around I will enjoy being a redhead!!!
