Who knows better how to work with Taylor Swift’s famous curls than someone who has had their fingers poked through each spiral? Stylist Kevin Mancuso, owner of New York hair studio KM Townhouse and Creative Director of Nexxus Salon Hair Care, has had the pleasure, and let’s us in on a few tips for how he gets the most from each ringlet. “I used Nexxus Mousse Plus all over and blow-dried the hair upside down while using my fingers to rough up the root. After setting her hair on Velcro rollers and allowing it to cool, I used a half-inch curling iron to put in the wave pattern.”

Hey! My hair is alot like Taylor Swift’s and it curls really well but not quite the same look as in these pictures. Tell me, does she just use a curling iron or something else? Because I would LOVE my hair to curl like that!

Taylor told Sophisticate’s that she always lets her hair dry naturally. “If it dries really flat, then I spice up the top curls with a curling iron, but usually just the top layers.” The one thing she can’t do? Brush it. “The curls become terrifyingly frizzy and it’s the worst ever,” she told us!

About a month or two ago, i bought the nov/dec 2009 issue of sophisticate’s. Everytime I look through it, I’m drawn to the same picture everytime, and thats the picture of Chelsea Staub! I love her blonde waves, and her deep parted bangs. At the back of the issue I just saw the caption that says “see the results on Sophisticate’s website!” I was really hoping I could find it, but I can’t anywhere. A beautiful, romantic look indeed. Have you asked your salon professional about color services that might be right for you? Rich chocolate browns (Level 3 or 4) help make great color choices to imitate Selena’s haircolor.
Take a look at bang options or sideswept bangs as well. Be sure your stylist is great with layering, and avoid razor-cutting for softer looks. I hope this helps.
