cool vibe
Short isn’t always sweet–sometimes it’s fierce with a whole lot of attitude. A symphony of shades melt together for a starburst of color that extends from long layers at the crown, while the super-short back and sides add contrasting detail. A round brush and blow-dryer sets up the look, while a burst of flexible-hold hairspray keeps it going with room for moveability.

pink pixie
As if an adorable pixie wasn’t enough, a pale pinky-peach hue adds even more style to the look! A short back and sides leads into longer length closer to the front, which is pulled upward to show off the delicate shade. Hairspray or styling gel is a must to get that awesome height.

abbreviated bob
A short-snipped bob is both sophisticated and pretty all at the same time. With length in back skimming the top of the nape and the sides and front cut into tapered layers, the look is short on length but long on gorgeous effect. A round brush and blow-dryer sets the stage, followed by a gently tousling with pomade.

celebrity style
Julianne Hough

Though she loves to play with her length, Julianne seriously rocked her short cut. The nape was trimmed a little shorter, but crown layers were left longer on the sides to allow for style versatility. This look involves a side part and feathered layers.

I used to ride and had to wear a riding helmet. Fortunately, I had a really short pixie cut so that when I took off the helmet and my hair was all smashed down all I had to do was splash some water on it and fluff it up and I was ready to go.
Would love to see an issue strictly on ‘short hair’. Preferably what styles you should have for those of us with thick, natural wave hair.
Also, would like to see you offer some type of sweepstakes where we can enter for a free year subscription. Or, perhaps offer a printable coupon for $2.00 off a newsstand purchase of your Sophisticates Hairstyle magazine.
Thanks.
I had two girls and after school we were always going to soccer practice or softball prac. With working while they were in school and taking them to school and picking them up at 3:00 p.m. Short hair has always been easy to work with.
I have baby fine hair plus a high forehead. If a beauty parlor uses a curling iron my hair looks great but when I use it my hair looks dry in some spots. I don’t want to wash my hair everyday because I’ll wash what oil I have in my hair. So if you have any suggestions I really appreciate it. Thank you
