A staightening hair technique can be a small method. So if got the time to straighten up , relax , don,t ever let it fall out for good.

  2. erica J says:

my hair is medium length and severely damaged, dry, frizzy, normal thickness, unmanageable, naturally curly and im on a low budget.im tired of false ads so can you recommend any products that would help give me a wavy gorgeous look without damaging or expensive.

    Thanks

  3. Ariellen says:

    Hi there!

Naturally I have thin, curly hair that’ll do pretty much anything I want it to. (Small ringlets for curls) I straighten it maybe once to twice a week, and it falls around five inches past my shoulders.

But when I style my hair I have this problem where it doesn’t turn out very silky or smooth looking, whether it’s curly or straight. I see a lot of people with beautiful, rich, smooth hair. How can I get my hair to get that pretty look? And also, how can I make my curls look smooth and much bigger? Examples; Victoria Justice’s curl, Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Giles, or J-Lo.

    Thanks!!

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

  4. Maddie says:

I have really straight hair, and when i scunch it, it frizzes and is just UGLY! Any suggestions on making it curly?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi Maddie,
The “scrunching” method typically works for women with naturally curly hair so it’s no surprise you’re not getting the results you’d like. Start out by adding a little product (like mousse) in your hair when it’s damp. Blow-dry using a round brush to shape strands. When your hair is dry, divided it into sections and wrap it around the barrel of a curling iron, spraying each curl with a little hairspray. Once you’re finished, try not to brush the curls as doing so may make them fall.

  5. Maddie says:

    Hi!
My Hair is about 3 nches past my shoulders. I have ezema on my neck so I can’t wear it up. Any hairstyles that won’t show my neck would help. Oh, it’s naturally straight, too.

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi Maddie,
There are hundreds of looks in the current issue of Sophisticate’s—the one with Jennifer Lopez on the cover! We think you’ll find a few that are great for you.

  6. Tammy says:

My hair is straight and course and thick. I would like a hairstyle that would be easy to fix. All hairstyles in magazines are for thin or curly thick hair. Please help.

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi, Tammy!
Check in with your hairstylist and ask for some layers. Layers help remove some of the bulk of your thick hair and they look great straight or curly!

  7. Anna says:

I need a hairstyle that doesn’t take long to fix in the mornings. I was wondering if a body wave is good for thin wavy hair. My hair is chin length now but I was thinking of growing it out and getting a body wave.

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi, Anna!

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Daniel Keane says:

      Hi, Anna!
A body wave can be very helpful for thin or only slightly wavy hair. However, consult with your professional stylist because the body wave will not necessarily make your styling easier or less time consuming. Stylists use body waves to give the hair BODY, not to eliminate the need for styling. If you are expecting the body wave to eliminate your need to style, you may be expecting too much. Also, with finer hair you may be better off with a style that is a bit shorter to maximize the fullness you can get with your hair. With fine hair the longer it gets, the thinner it may look.

  9. DiDi says:

I have trouble with taming my hair sometimes b/c i have bi-racial hair. my hair is a mix of asian & african american hair. it will straighten when being straighten but i the heat or moisture makes it frizz out & dry. then if i want to wear it natural ( i’ve got a mix of curly wavy natural hair) it does the same & poofs out. I CAN’T SEEM TO GET IT TO LAY DOWN NOT EVEN A BIT!! Can someone please help me? Is there anything cheap but affective?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi, DiDi!
Think of a leave-in conditioner as your best friend. It helps maintain moisture and control frizz. You may also want to try a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Finally, be sure to apply styling products (like smoothing serums, mousse and volumizers) to damp hair, as doing so will allow your hair to dry with less frizz and flyaways.

  10. Angel says:

Hi, I have hair that takes forever to dry..forever!! I was wondering if there was a better blowdryer out there for my kind of hair that will cut the time in half? I use a 1875 watt dryer and it still takes forever. Plus when It dries I have to flat iron it to keep it smooth and not so frizzy. That takes alot of time too. So most days I just put it in a messy bun so I don’t have to deal with it. I have young kids and they don’t let me take the time I need either! Can you please suggest something!

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide says:

      Hi, Angel!
To shorten your blow-dry time, make sure you towel-dry your hair thoroughly to remove any excess moisture. Blow-dry your hair in sections (it really helps your hair dry faster) with a diffuser attachment to combat frizz.

    • Angel says:

Thanks, I’ve never used a diffuser before so I will definitly give it a try thanks again, p.s. I love your magazine!!!!

    • Crystal says:

I would recommend Paul Mitchell’s super skinny line! It helps speed up drying time! Works great, love it!

  11. mickeymouse says:

    mali,
try washing ur hair then, try blowing ur hair out to make it at least a lil’ wavy, then straighten ur hair. it might work!!

  12. Mali says:

So i have naturally thick curly hair and i hate it!!!! i try to straighten it with a chi hair straightener but it dosn’t geiv me the results i want. is there anything else i can do???

      Mali:

We’ll check our experts and be back in a bit!

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Frank and Belinda Gambuzza says:

      Hi, Mali!
A flat iron can’t do the work all by itself, nor is that healthy for your hair. You also have to have the right styling products to help straighten your hair. We recommend Kerastase Nectar Thermique, Kerastase Oleo Slim and Shu Umera Iron Design to help your straightening process. Not only will it be easier, but your hair will be healthier, softer and shinier. The Nectar Thermique provides your hair with vitamins, nutrients and moisture, and it helps to protect your hair from heat with only a nickel-size amount. A dime size of the Oleo Slim contains three oils to keep your hair straight despite heat and humidity. Apply both to damp hair, working them into the ends first, and then blow-dry your hair about 80 percent before you use a paddle brush to finish the drying process. Be sure your hair is completely dry before using the flat iron. Then take your hair in sections and lightly spray each area with Iron Design. This product will give you added heat protection, and it will help hold your style.

  13. maddie says:

ath the beginning of the day my hair starts out as strait, smooth, shiny and there is absolutely no frizz. but in the middle of the day my haair gets hard frizzy poofy and verry hard to cope with. how do i keep my hair from becoming that way, during the day?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Daniel Keane (see Expert Panel at right) says:

      Hi Maddie:
You don’t say if you start the day with any product in your hair or if you have used thermal styling tools (blow dryer, flat iron etc.). Both of these would be important to know because they are what I recommend to control your frizz. There are advanced surfaces on irons available today that help to smooth the hair as well as thermal styling products to use before drying, before ironing and after finishing. The after products can be used in the middle of the day as well to maintain the look.

  14. Lyndsey says:

I usaully wear my hair straight all the time but wit the straightner i have it leavs the top of my head always frizzy.I would put a hairspray on it but then the top of my head would be hard and the rest of my hair would soft. Wht is some cheap product that would really work?

    • Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and Daniel Keane (see Expert Panel at right) says:

      Hi Lyndsey:
If the majority of your hair is staying straight after you finish it and only the surface is frizzy I would check the condition of the hair first. Using a quality conditioner on a regular basis and using a protective thermal styling product before you dry and iron your hair will also help. I like to use a biphasic thermal activated spray that not only protects, but also conditions the hair as you heat it. I know you are looking for a inexpensive product to solve this problem, but I would suggest you look into one or more of the quality products available. It will be worth the investment. Italy Hairfashions 2-phase Hydroshine is the first product I would recommen.
