5 Steps To Better Nails (Break The Nail-Biting Habit!)

Ladies it’s time to put an end to nail-biting. This bad habit can weaken your nails and even damage their ability to grow. To help you kick this horrid habit, we teamed up celebrity and fashion manicurist Rachel Shim to give you the 5 best tips and tricks to keep your fingers pretty!

ONE: Get Up With Your Manicures. Sometimes nail-biting begins with the need to remove dry, hardened and/or calloused cuticles on the sides of the nail. Weekly manicures, at home or at a salon, will give you the chance to tame unmanageable cuticles quick and easy. Also, you’ll be less likely to bite off your fresh mani.

TWO: Use A Cuticle Oil. Once you’ve freshened up your cuticles, keep them healthy and moisturized with cuticle oil. This will keep the nails from flaking and peeling so there will be nothing to bite.

THREE: Try Out A Nail-Biting Inhibitor. Nail inhibitor discourage you from putting your fingers anywhere near your mouth by leaving an unpleasant, sour taste that’ll make you never want to bite your fingernails again. Dermelect’s new Resist Nail Bite Inhibitor + Restorative Treatment is a great option.

FOUR: Go Short. By maintaining short, trimmed nails you’ll leave little to nothing to bite off.

FIVE: Figure Out Why You’re Doing It. Do you bite your nails when you’re nervous? Anxious? Scared? Sad? Did you recently drop another bad habit like smoking? Just like with anything else figuring out why you’re do something will help you stop doing it.
