The Hair You Really Love: Trolls!

When DreamWorks Animation introduced their movie Trolls to the Cannes Film Festival, they knew they had to live up to dolls’ hair reputation. Enter long-hair maestro Patrick Cameron.

The hairdresser and his hand-picked team of experts worked non-stop for over four months to create show-stopping hair, make up and costumes for the launch. Cameron created the Trolls’ gravity-defying, larger than life colorful hair on 10 Amazonian models, who sashayed along the Carlton Pier to introduce two of the stars from the movie, Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.

“I was asked to create 10 looks that would work on the red carpet, but it wasn’t just a matter of putting some fun wigs on a model,” shares Cameron. “Each look had to be carefully planned and constructed to be completely special, with a one-of-a kind feeling. First, the wigs had to be ordered from around the world to get the correct colors needed, with each wig having a hand-knotted laced front to give the illusion the models’ hair was real.

“Then, each look took over 3-4 hours of styling. Layer by layer, each wig required a specially constructed base that needed to be no heavier than the overall wig, itself; this was extremely important as the models needed to wear the wig for two-three hours at a time. Each finished wig also had to be durable enough to be reused for other red carpet events and Troll premieres around the world.

“Working with the creators and directing the team has been the most fantastic experience,” sums up Cameron. “The opportunity to present a Patrick Cameron Hair Show at the 2016 Cannes film festival is one I’ll never forget!”
